I am a country music fan go George Strait! I wish to join the military after to serve my country. I love spending time with my family and Im serving a mission in Oaxaca Mexico where I hope to help other families come closer to Jesus Christ.
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in the church all my life. I've had my ups and downs, sometimes so down that I didn't want to be in the church and I've had ups so high that my testimony would explode in a way that I had to shout that the church is true! We all come across hardships and trials and through these trials we gain a learning experience of what the difference is between happiness and misery. I've noticed that only through the church and gospel of Jesus Christ with obedience to Gods commandments can we have that joy and happiness in our life and be free from guilt and sorrow. The reason why I'm a mormon is so I can have the truth of the gospel which brings happiness in all of our lives and I want to bring that feeling to everyone that doesn't have that truth. I know that through this church we can live with our families for ever and I'm willing to serve my Heavenly Father with all my heart to bring the truth to many souls here on earth so they can live with him again and be with there families again. thats why i'm a mormon!
What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?
From my faith in Jesus Christ I know that I´ve recieved so many blessings. First I know that he lives and because I know that he lives I know that he is by my side to direct me in times of trial or in need. I know that through him that I can be forgiven of my sins and be directed and guided through repentance when I make a wrong choice. Like everybody else I do have trials and I always have asked for a specific and direct answer from him to what I should do, but faith comes by little by little and he works little by little and little by little in my everyday life I´ve been guided through my trials and repentance even when I didn´t notice he was there with me but I know he is there because he is Jesus Christ and I know that he loves everyone of us.
How does making right choices help us make more right choices?
Obedience is the key to living a good life and its dificult to attain that attribute in a world thats full of so many temptaions and with Satan tempting us all. But I know that we can overcome this challenge the more obedient we are because when we make a right choice its hard to notice but we begin to increase our faith and our love for Jesus Christ. Your Obedience shows your love that you have for your Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ and the more you show your love to them the more love they show unto you and when you are filled with his love which is peace and comfert and joy the less that you will be tempted and Satan will run farther away from you.
How has attending Church services helped you?
I like to attend church because young or old I make friends with everyone that Ive known for a long time by attending church and the activities. Also I made a promise with god that I would attend church for the rest of my life when I was baptized. I know that attending the church services has helped me in my life with family with school, resisting temptation in my everyday life, and resist from getting into trouble. Because when I attend church I have the holy ghost as a guide during the week to help me do the things that are right that will help me becaome successful. And most of the time I dont even notice the big effect of church attendance has on me, but I do know that God commanded me to attend church services, and I know that he knows me more than I know myself and he knows how I can be happy and knows how I can be on the right path to eternal happiness and success in this life so I will follow that through his commandments by attending the church services.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Im a missionary right now and our prophet tells us that we must go on missions to preach the gospel of our faith wich is the church that Jesus Christ established the only true church and our purpose is to invite others to come unto christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, repentance, baptism, the gift of the holy ghost, and endure to the end. And as the people come to listen to the missionaries they will feel and know that this is and the only true church here on earth. and I myself know that it is true with no doubt and I serve a mission right now so that everyone can hear the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and how we can build a stronger relationship with our family in order for all of us to live together after this life returning with our heavenly father and all live happy for all eterity
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
I always had thought that revelation only comes to those that have faith so big that they can move mountains or that I would only hear these stories in the ensign or the scriptures. Its not as hard as we think to recognize the spirit talk to you, but it still does take consentration and meditation and listening to the immpressions. One time I was riding my four wheeler in the forest for miles and I happened to get lost and when I tried to find my way back I only got more lost and had no sense of direction or where I should go. I wasnt living a good life that I should be living it has been a while since I had prayed, but I got on my knees and took off my helmet and began to pray anyway for help to find my way back. When I ended I started my way and as I did I sang some hymns and listened for the spirit even with the engine making noise I felt the immpressions of every path that I should follow and did as the spirit directed. I was led back safely without making a wrong turn and I had only less than a cup full of gas left when I checked after I arrived home. I know that the lord answers prayers when we desperatly need help or when we need blessings or inspiration of something or anything he always answers in his own way in his own time. The trick is to keep doing something, notice how I just got on my quad and went, in other words I didnt wait, I tried and when we try our best the lord will do the rest. Take the time to think about how god has ansered your prayers when you go to bed just think about the things that the spirit has guided you to do something right in your life or has lead you to happiness
Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?
My dad lost his job for more than a year we had almost nothing. Although he encouraged us to continue living the principles of the gospel. We attended church still every sunday we prayed and read the scriptures and even payed our tithing even though that we didnt have much left. After more than a long suffering but rewarding year we were very blessed from our Heavenly Father to find a job for my dad who is now working as a boss and he recieves enough for our needs thanks to the Gospel my family was faithful enough to obtain what was needed.
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
As a mission of the church we unite together to stay strong in the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that we might live forever with our families in God´s Kingdom after this life to come. We are to be baptized and enter into a covenant or promise with God that we will keep His comandments for ever and repent of our mistakes, and help those in need that suffer emotionaly or physically and strive to become like our Savior Jesus Christ. And as Joseph Smith (the prophet of God) said that after that we have come to a knowledge of these things it is now our duty to preach this gospel to all the world. I have a big participation in that as a missionary as a representative of Jesus Christ. My duty is the same and I´m here and we are here to tell what is to be done and what is true to every person living in this world.
What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?
I dont have a wife or kids, but everything that I´ve seen my parents do has brought so much happiness in our home and such things that my parents have taught me are: To be close to God at all times to pray together as a family every night and morning and before we eat; study the scriptures together every day, 1chapter or so; To be clean and virtuous, my parents have always held to one another and not flirt in anyway with anyone, they both have loved eachother so much by listening to one another and take the blame for themselves with almost everything; We hold a family night once a night a week; we spend time together when we have our family traditions like going camping in the summer, go look at Christmas lights in December; We council one another and help one another to lift up higher with our personal trials; We stand strong to always keep the commandments of God and to surround our home with Pictures of Christ and to always bring the Spirit in with us. We laugh we joke we have fun I love growing up in a home with great harmony.
Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.
I may not be smart or have the talent to talk or learn, but I am a child of God and no matter who I am or what I do or where I go He will always tell me what I need to know and do and now that might not come all at once, but what I know now of what He has told me is that Christ´s church has been lost for many centuries and that He called his servant Joseph Smith to be His prophet and to restore all that has been lost in the church of Jesus Christ. I know that this is true through reading the Book of Mormon which is the word of God and asking God if it is his book. And the only way that I know that these things are true is through the Holy Ghost by feeling the impressions in my heart and mind that this is right. And I know it is.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
Family History is a blessing to have in our lives we can find out who we are and find our where we cam from. We also can learn from our acestors about what they did and what they didn´t do to help us learn more from them with progressing in life for example when I was reading about my great grandmother Velma about Her life story with a husband from another faith. She said how difficult it was to maintain a family and teach about religion so She counciled us to not marry another person from another faith. My great grandparents were very faithfull and loved eachother so much, but it was a tragedy to read about what problems kicked in Her family when their were so many disagreements with eachothers beliefs. Ivé also learned great things from my Grandfather thompson when He crossed the american plains with the Mormon Pioneers, and even though He experienced so many trials with deaths in the family of 5 children and His wife also, He did not give up life, He kept moving forward with God and relying on Him and thanks to Him, my family still enjoys the blessing of the teachings of God in our lives. So I´ve learned that no matter what happens I should be strong like my grandfather and keep God´s commandments no matter how hard life gets. The biggest reason why we do Family History is to do baptisms for the dead (1Corinthians 15:29). Perhaps there have been many deaths in our family history of ancestors that havn´t ever recieved knowledge of God´s plan and havn´t had the opportunity to be baptized and we need to be baptized to live in God´s kingdom (John 3:5). So we can look for our ancestors names and take their names to the temple and there we can do baptisms for them for those who are dead. I know that families are forever, death isn´t the end we can all be blessed to live with our family forever.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
One of the teachings of the Savior that has influenced me in my life is the repentance. We can not be perfect nobody can, but I´m so grateful to know that Jesus Christ, who was the only perfect man on earth paid for my sins because I know when I do repent I feel so much happier in life. I don´t feel so much guilt, I feel at home and at peace where I can rest just as the Savior said come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest (matthew 11:28-30). I know that when we repent we feel more peace in our life and less burdensome because nothing is more burdensome than sin.
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
I can only say that you will never ever know unless you try. I have less than a week to complete my 2 year calling as a missionary and even though most of what we do is preach the gospel the greater part about becoming so close to God is just the little things that we do that make things bigger. Well to study the scriptures and pray everyday seems to do it all I find myself so different than before just by reading a chapter or a few verses everyday. That may sound foolish on my part but what helped me understand about faith into action is how Alma the prophet explained in Alma 32 that faith is compared with a seed that when you plant it it grows very very slowly with lots of water and sun, but after a long time it becomes a full-grown tree and able to produce fruit and its the same with our knowlege of seeing the results of things that we cannot see. Like seeds we see others that are alot taller and stronger and we wonder how will I be able to be like that someday. I promise to all that if we just excersize a parcial of faith at least to have a desire to do the little things that are right then we will be like trees and have the faith to act upon the things that we cannot see
How I live my faith
I am a missionary for my church here in Mexico, Oaxaca and im here to serve the lord for 2 years to bring the truth of Jesus Christ and his teachings to as many souls in these parts and I teach why and how we must come unto him in order to return with our Heavenly Father to be in a state of never ending happiness and to be with our families for ever and all eternity. This is a service that takes a big sacrifice to give up the worldly things and not able to see my family for 2 years, but I wouldn't trade the world for the spritual strength that I'm recieving here and seeing the families spiritual strength grow here. To me there is no sacrifice in serving a mission, Its a 2 year service of gaining nothing but much knowledge about my Savior Jesus Christ and how our happiness comes from his love for us and how through him all families can be together for ever in a state of happiness.
