Hi I'm Russel Ferne
I am a recent college graduate with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. I like to sail and I like to do things that keep me physically active. I also love to experience new things.
Why I am a Mormon
The family values and morals of the Mormon church are the things that I love the most about the church. I came to know that the Book of Mormon is true by reading it and praying to ask God of its truthfulness. I was answered I have a testimony that Christ is our Savior. When I read the Book of Mormon and the BIble, my faith is increased and I have the strength to live a clean wholesome life.
Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?
I served a 2 year mission in Guatemala where I learned Spanish. This is completely voluntary and I received no payment for my service. I worked and saved up to pay for as much of it as I could. I was able to teach many people about the blessings of Christ's gospel and how it could influence their lives. While serving, I received a great conviction of the need for the true gospel of Christ in our lives and I know with a surety that it will bless anyone's life who applys it. I was also able to provide a lot of community service to the Guatemalan people.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by trying to serve others. I attend church on Sundays and try to be kind to every person I meet. When an opportunity comes up to participate in a service activity, I try to be there. I also set aside time to be with my wife, so that we can grow closer every day.
