Chat With a Mormon Online
I was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I then attended Texas A&M University and received a degree in Biomedical Engineering. I completed medical school and a residency. I am now a Pediatrician and love my job. 3 years ago I converted and am now a Mormon. I have a 6 month old, beautiful daughter and feel very blessed to be a mom and a wife. I love ballet; running; swimming; crafts including basket weaving and quilting; and spending time with my family and friends.
I was baptized at 2 years old into the Lutheran Church and blessed to be raised by very loving, kind parents. They gave me a deep sense of right and wrong, faith in God and empathy for others. Through the church, I learned and grew in my faith. I had many important mentors and can remember the moment I accepted the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When I went to college, my faith became my own as it was now my choice to go to church, pray, and read my scriptures. When I was deciding where I would go for residency, I prayed nightly, "Not my will but yours be done." I quickly learn to be careful when you pray, as I found I would be moving to Phoenix. I thought, "Really God, Jesus only had to go to the desert for 40 days and now I have to go for 3 years." But, as always God answers prayers and as time went on I had a sense of peace and excitement about moving. When I arrived in Phoenix I began working with many amazing people, many of whom were Mormons. I also met a man and soon found out that he was Mormon as well. I began dating him, but because of many misconceptions about his beliefs we broke up. He moved away, but each time he would return we would catch up as friends. One time before he left I asked if I could have a book about what he believed. As I started reading "Why Would Anyone Be Mormon," I felt a deep connection. I asked him many questions. Then one day at work, another resident asked if I would take the missionary discussions with her and I said yes. I began going to the LDS church with one of my friends and soon felt a still, small voice saying, "It's true." I was later baptized and confirmed a member of the LDS church. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet lead by God to translate the Book of Mormon. I know that God speaks to us today through the Prophets and I know that the lifestyle I live because I am Mormon has brought me true joy. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
The Book of Mormon has given me a more full understanding of the Gospel. Through its teachings I have learned that I existed before I was born as a spirit. I chose learned that there were two plans presented, one from Satan that we would not have agency and all do the right thing. There was another plan presented by Christ in which we would have agency and with that agency he would die to atone for our sins so we could return to live with Our Father. I feel so blessed to have this knowledge and the opportunity to make choices and learn from them. I also understand after reading the Book of Mormon that families are forever and because I have been sealed to my family in the temple I will have the opportunity to live with them forever in Heaven. I am grateful for these truths that I now understand because of reading the Book of Mormon.
I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the life I have today. Through the church, I have gotten to know many of my neighbors and feel very blessed to have a warm welcome each time my family moves. When I had my daughter, I had an outpouring of generosity as those in our neighborhood brought meals and gifts for almost 3 weeks. I feel blessed now to be able to be able to return the favor and take meals to those around me. I enjoy visiting with neighbors I know are going through difficult times and offering help with caring for their children. I love teaching the 9 and 10 year olds Sunday school class and am always amazed at their depth of knowledge. I am grateful to live a healthy lifestyle and make my family life a priority. Through my work as a Pediatrician I aim to share the love that God has given me with others. I know that I have been blessed by the good examples I have in my life because I am Mormon.
