Chat With a Mormon Online
Number one in my life is my family. My husband of 16 years and I are doing our best to raise our 3 munchkins. We value our time together as a family and also prioritize regular date nights together. Outside my family (and yet, incredibly intertwined with my family life), I have a passion for documenting life. I share my love for "cultivating a good life and recording it" with others through our company (beckyhiggins.com) which produces solution-based scrapbooking products. So it comes as no surprise that photography and organization are two of my favorite interests as well. I love serving others, I love sharing the Gospel, and most of all I love the daily opportunity and sacred responsibility that is mine, to teach our children about their divine role and purpose.
When I was a teenager I had the great opportunity to participate in the Young Women program (for 12-18 year old girls) of the Church. I grew up Mormon, but it was during this time as I was maturing and "figuring things out" for myself, that my testimony of the Gospel really solidified. I asked questions. I sought out answers. I attended early-morning seminary (a doctrine and scripture-based class for teens) every day before I went to school during my 4 high school years. I prayed. I was grateful for the faith of my parents, but I wanted to have a testimony that was truly MY testimony. I came to realize that happiness - TRUE happiness - comes from following the example of our Savior. It comes from knowing our divine heritage - where we came from. It comes from understanding our purpose here on Earth. It comes from having integrity and making choices that are in accordance with our knowledge of right and wrong. Happiness is choosing to know, live, appreciate, and embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon because I have come to develop a firm testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know, without a doubt in my mind, that Heavenly Father loves me, knows me personally, and wants me to return to live with Him some day. Ultimately, this is what I want more than anything ... for myself, my family, and for all those that I care about.
I strive to serve my family every day by being the best wife and mother I know how to be. I love serving our community. I am involved in our children's school. I love getting in the classroom and being with the kids and helping them understand the value of documenting life through creating "Personal Yearbooks" with them. I find great joy in serving others in various capacities. I am currently serving as the stake Relief Society president in our area. A stake is comprised of several wards and a ward is a church congregation, which is geographically-based. The "Relief Society" is the world's largest organization of women. It is world-wide with millions of women across the globe. Our stake Relief Society has 1300+ women, all members of the Church who live in our city. The work of my "calling" as Relief Society President is more than a way to serve the community and have volunteer experience. I know that I have been called to serve in this capacity for many reasons, many of which I may never know. But this is what I do know: I love each and every sister that I serve. I do my best to support and encourage them in their roles as women, wives, mothers, and disciples of Christ.
