Hi I'm Amanda
I love being outdoors! i love to hike, rock climb, four-wheel, snowmobile, camp, ride horses... anything! I also love to read, that is my personal escape. I love listening to music, anything that makes me feel happy! My favorite thing in the world (besides chocolate) is laughing! I am a firm believer that laughter is the best medicine :D I am representing our Savior Jesus Christ as a missionary in the Texas Lubbock Mission!
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because the message makes me happy. It brings me peace and comfort in times of need. Though i am young i have had many experiences and times when i have felt lost and alone. The guidance and peace that comes from living my religion is indescribable! Even though a lot of things make me happy and make me the person that i am, the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings me the most happiness and peace. And it's lasting.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
Through reading the book of Mormon I have been able to feel the love that my Father in Heaven has for me. I am able to see his plan clearly and am able to recieve direction and guidance from reading the words of the Book. When life has gotten crazy and i feel like no one knows or understands or even cares, reading the Book of Mormon has been able to show me otherwise.
How I live my faith
In my ward i was a youth leader for many years i helped the girls ages 12-18 as we grew up together. At a time that is so crucial for young girls we were able to help build and lift each other up through the activities that we would do on a weekly basis. When the world around us is shaky and the values of family life are targeted and diminishing we are able to set goals and standards that will help us to become the people that we want to be and to work towards the family life that we want to someday have. My family has always been very service oriented. No matter when or where we would always be doing something for others. My dad taught us the value of hard work as young kids and that has continued to be a staple of life for my family. When you see someone down in the dumps and are able to give them even the tiniest smile, the feeling is so worth all the effort you put in.
