Hi I'm Kenny Johnston
I am 22 years old and I am a open book. I love music and singing, that is pretty much my life! I love the water and the mountains that is where I can lose my self and wash away all of my worries from the world. I love writing stories about anything. I was baptized into the church in June 2010 and it was the BEST decision I ever made! I love the gospel and I love my Savior and older brother Jesus Christ and I know that he loves me! Teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me so much joy into my life and seeing people repent and come unto Christ, there's no words to describe the feeling I get when that happens.
Why I am a Mormon
Four years ago I was txting my friend on a Sunday afternoon and she said "Oh I am at church. You are missing out on so much." She invited me to go to church next weekend and I said yes. After that Sunday I started going to Seminary for only a semester and half way through it I started meeting with the missionaries. For 4 months a prayed everyday to ask Heavenly Father if this was true and I got my answer the last day of Seminary. I got baptized on June 19th 2010 and I have loved every second of it. Now I am the Branch Mission Leader of the Young Single Adult Branch in Lakeside Montana. That Night when I got my answer (Through a dream) I asked Heavenly Father if this was the answer. I went back to sleep and I had it again. This happen a few times through the night so I said "OK. OK I get it this is my answer." Ever since then I have come to KNOW that this is the true church on the earth today and I KNOW that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored the fullness of the gospel on the earth today. This I KNOW to be TRUE!
Could you talk about your baptism?
My baptism was the most incredible and memorable experience I have had in my life. It was on June 19th 2010 at the Kalispell Stake Center. Elder Miner/Elder Baumgarten and Elder Miner/Elder Lanham were the missionaries that taught me and Elder Miner was the one that baptized me. My parents who are non members came to my baptism and through out the whole thing they cried. I think I loved the most about my baptism and the most memorable was when my father got up and said the closing prayer and when my parents gave me a huge hug and said "I am so proud of you making the right decision for your life."
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
The one prayer that comes to mind is the one that I asked if this church was true. My prayer was answered through a dream. A beautiful young women came up to me and said "Isn't it time to teach your children the Book of Mormon?" I said "Yes. Yes it is." After reading the last few verses in Moroni, my son asked me "Daddy, how can I get the priesthood and a Patriarchal Blessing?" Then I woke up. I knew right then that this church was true and that Joesph Smith was a Prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon was true.
Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.
My testimony of the restoration can not be explained in 2000 words. I am so thankful for the Prophet Joseph Smith being the key to unlocking the last dispensation. I know without a shadow of a doubt that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints is God's kindgom once again establish on the earth. I know that Joseph Smith was God's Prophet on the earth again. The Restoration is still in play. The fullness of the everlasting gospel is on the earth again and NOTHING will EVER take it from the earth again until our Savior and Redeemer and Master Jesus THE Christ comes back and Reigns on the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God as I know that God and Jesus Christ Lives. I know it with all the surety of my heart! I love this gospel so much.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
I think the most influenced teaching from the savior in my life is FAITH and LOVE! In the new testament when Jesus is resurrected he goes to the shores of Galilee and says to Paul and the other disciples that he needs his disciples and he needs them FOREVER! That is an act of faith and love. They love him so much that they are willing to leave everything and go preach and teach his gospel. I love it!
How I live my faith
How I live my faith is through my example. Since I have been a member and especially my mission I have come to know that my example and my attitude reflect my faith in the Savior. I try more and more each day to become like my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. "Be perfect even as I and your Father which is in Heaven are perfect." That is what the Savior taught and that is how I live my faith.
