Hi I'm Sonia :)

About Me

Many people face growing up without a father, but I grew up with out a mother. But i always had someone there for me when I needed most. I was lucky enough to meet 2 wonderful women that helped me how to love even though things would seem tough. from the age of 1til almost 7 I had a wonderful step mom that I love so much til this day. From age 9 til 13 i had another step mom that as well I love very much. Even though I met them both at different times in my life they always treated me like a daughter and til this day they do the same. After I had trouble for many years with my father for his problem, I decided to leave my home to make it on my own. It wasn't easy but I was lucky that my aunt accepted me into her home with my wonderful cousins. Not soon after I got married at the age 15. Yes I know I got married young. But with him we grew together. Now I'm a mother of 3 and on a path to get my career started. I am a very creative person. I love to listen to others to try and make them feel better and help them when i can with their problems. I am not writing this to make you think i have it easy. I have my up and downs and that goes to show that no matter what i will always try to do what is right for my family. I love my family very much and as well for my friends. I honestly don't have to say much about me but If you ever feel sad or alone or simply want some one to listen, I'm the person to go to because I'm the type of person that really cares when someone is in need.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of the church when i was 15. Immediately when I learned about the gospel i knew i was in the correct path. I have been baptized for 7 years now and everyday is a learning experience for me. When i see the difference it has made in my life, from going to the church activities and doing our prayers as a family and individually, as well as going to church every Sunday. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has taught me the importance of family and the love that Heavenly Father has for me and everyone else. I am grateful that I am a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They have showed our family how to be united, how to love one another, how not to judge others, how to forgive and as well how to ask for forgiveness and many more things. But most important of all, They have showed me the plan that Heavenly Father has for us, and that is for one day to be able to return to him once again.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer in my life is very important because that is the way i share my feelings or concerns with my heavenly father. When I am sad or mad or afraid I know that kneeling down and saying what I feel in my prayers, will then help me afterwards have comfort or a sense of tranquility and have a more clear mind on what i need to do. Prayer is an important thing in my life because I know heavenly father is always listening. When you have a child and see them sad or mad or frustrated, you want to help them. Most of the time you will ask them what is wrong and they open up and tell you, therefore you can help them with their problem. That is how i see prayer. My heavenly father sees what is wrong and he is always ready to take time and listen to help me in my time of need and all i have to do to allow him to help me is do a simple prayer and let him know.

How I live my faith

Being a mother of three is not easy. I don't always have the time to read the scriptures or other things. But because i am a mom i do my best to teach my kids the gospel. My husband and i do family prayer with our children In the morning and at night. As well we teach them the importance of blessing their food. At night instead of them watching T.V. before going to bed, I read them articles from The Friend magazine (Church magazine filled with wonderful stories for kids about the gospel). Or I read them Book of Mormon stories..as well is a wonderful book filled with stories from events in the book of Mormon. Or sometimes i just remind that Heavenly Father always love them. We attend Church on Sundays where they learn how to live the gospel and many different things. Right now I am a teacher at church where every Sunday i teach the principles of the gospel. Teaching on Sundays help me learn because i study and prepare for my class and at the end I always learn something new. Doing this things as a family help us grow stronger and stay connected. We learn to listen to each other and understand each other.
