Chat With a Mormon Online
I'm a young housewife and I enjoy a challenge, whether it be singing in Italian, spelunking through a cave, or teaching a child to read.
I grew up in the Mormon church, but I learned to find my own belief at a young age. I have tested out the gospel for myself, through study, prayer, and obedience to God's commandments. Each day I am reassured that this is God's church as I see my life unfold on this path I have chosen and compare it to my friends who struggle without it.
Several stories in the book serve as lessons on Gods plan. In the book of Jacob God compares himself to a farmer caring for his vineyard. He placed us here on earth to help us grow. He gives us nutrients like truth and freedom, and allows us to go through trials so we can overcome them and reach our full potential. He is sad when we suffer, and when we stray from his wisdom. The Book of Mormon teaches me that the purpose of life is about a fathers love for his children and the difficult process of growth and maturity, which we all must face. Like a parent, God will always be ready to help. If we follow his commandments and seek his will, we will live with joy now and with him and our loved ones after this life forever. He will never stop trying to help us, no matter how far we stray.
I lead the choir and teach music to the children in my local ward (congregation). Music is a powerful way to learn about God. It is what first helped me to have faith in him. Every month I visit four women in my ward. We talk about life, the gospel, and they know I'm always around if their family needs help. My parents taught me to apply the gospel by helping others, always, like Jesus did. Sometimes it means leaving the last cookie for someone else, or providing meals to the homeless.
