Hi I'm Neil
I am a convert to the church. After I joined the church, I moved to Atlanta, Georgia to begin my sports executive career with the Atlanta Braves. I met my wife, who is also a convert to the church, in our ward. We have two children and now reside in Florida. In my spare time I enjoy doing family history research, photography, and of course, sports.
Why I am a Mormon
Two key points of doctrine led me to investigate the church – that God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, are separate and distinct beings (unlike the Trinity concept that I was taught in the Lutheran faith), and the fact that there is no paid clergy. When I was given a Book of Mormon, I read it cover to cover and put Moroni’s promise to the test. I prayed and received my witness through the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet who restored the gospel.
How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It provides a greater insight of the Savior's atonement and the plan of salvation. This knowledge has given me a clear understanding of where we came from, why we are here on earth, and where we are going after this life. The Book of Mormon clearly explains the doctrine of faith, repentance, baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, through historical accounts written by ancient prophets. It's this knowledge that has given me the confidence to know that someday my family and I can return to live with our Father in heaven throughout all eternity.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by supporting my family, accepting callings to serve in the church and by organizing an annual service project in the community.
