Hi I'm Chris Schleier

About Me

I enjoy being in nature and spending time with friends and family. I am one of four siblings. My hobbies are playing basketball, football, and other team sports, hiking, writing in my journal, writing poetry, and singing. I am currently preparing to become licensed to sell insurance in the state of Georgia.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the Church, having only been a member since July, 2007. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ, and following the doctrine of the Church has brought me unmatched peace and a fullness of joy. I have a testimony that I know that this gospel is life changing. It has transformed my life. I testify to everyone reading this that the Church and its doctrine is true: That we are, in fact, led by a living prophet in these latter days. The fullness of the everlasting gospel has been properly restored by Joseph Smith. I know, as the Holy Spirit has bore truth of the matter unto me, that Joseph Smith saw our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ in a vision. The Church is true, and everyone that will abide with the gospel of Jesus Christ will experience the same fullness of joy and unmatched peace that I have felt, and continue to feel day by day. In my testimony, I stand shoulder to shoulder with the testimony of the Three and Eight special witnesses to the Book of Mormon (which can be found in the front of every official copy of the Book of Mormon) when they made this statement.... "We know of a surety that the work is true.....and we give our names unto the world, to witness unto the world." I testify, with vigor and zeal, that the Book of Mormon is true. I know and share with you that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Jesus Christ's Church on the earth today, the only church that contains the fullness of His everlasting Gospel. He is the Lord and Savior of every mortal who walks the face of the earth. I speak with absolute certainty. This church is led by divine priesthood authority, even the authority of the Lord, Jesus Christ, which also has been restored. And I willingly give my own name unto the world, to witness unto the world that which I verily know to be true. As stated by the special witnesses to the Book of Mormon I referenced earlier, I know with no doubt that, with them, "[I] lie not.......God bearing witness of it."

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of the Restoration of the Gospel.

The so-called Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ ended what members of our faith refer to as the Great Apostasy. The Great Apostasy occurred after the crucifixion of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and subsequent deaths of His anointed apostles. Because this occurred there was no longer any leadership, nor anyone who held the divine priesthood authority, on the earth. Many simple truths and doctrines were lost amid this period of spiritual darkness, thus resulting in many different reformed churches of Christ's original Church-which He established during His ministry, as recorded in the New Testament. There was a need for a restoration to be made, to that which was lost due to Apostasy and religious confusion upon the earth. A young farm boy by the name of Joseph Smith had a simple question and a simple desire: to come to know for himself which sect of Christianity he should join. Upon reading in the Bible, he felt inspired to seek an answer through prayer. In an effort to do this, he kneeled down in a grove of trees in the woods behind his home. The following is Joseph's own account of the events that would follow... "I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me by name and said, pointing to the other-This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!" Young Joseph Smith, an unlearned 14-year old farm boy of Palmyra New York, was visited by Heavenly Father and The Lord, Jesus Christ. They instructed and informed him that he was chosen to be the Prophet of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, To lead the Lord's people under the direct counsel and will of God Almighty, and Jesus Christ, His Son. And, thus it can be shouted in acclamation, as the hymn says "All now rejoice, the long night is o'er....Truth is on earth once more!"

How I live my faith

From January 2011-January 2012 I served a church service mission in the Lithia Springs ward in the Powder Springs, Georgia Stake. I did service work in church buildings and in the Atlanta Temple during the day Monday-Friday, and week nights and all day on weekends I spent time doing missionary work. I have a passion for missionary and serving others. I also find it important to keep the covenants which I made when I was baptized into the church, "To mourn with those that mourn, yea, to comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as [a witness] of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in." (Mosiah 18:9) Simply put, my life is a mission. That mission is to share with others the full measure of joy that comes from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which has been restored in its fullness in these, the Latter-days.
