Hi I'm Wayne
I joined the LDS Church when I was 12 years old with my entire family. I am an Eagle Scout and avid scout volunteer. I have a BS in Civil Engineering and have worked in the consutling business for 7 years and the mining industry for 13 years. I am the father of 4 great kids. Two sons are Eagle Scouts and the third will make Eagle next year. My daughter is a talented singer and dancer. We do a lot of family activities and love spending time together as a family. The boys and I have enjoyed SCUBA diving in the Keys and springs in Florida, hiking on the Applachian trail and learning to love the outdoors. I started doing geneology when I joined the church at 12 years old and have completed several lines of my family history back to Adam and Eve. I have a wonderful wife who has been an incredible support for me and our children and has been my best friend for the past 22 years.
Why I am a Mormon
When I was 12 years old my mother was interested in finding a religion that was more meaingful for us as a family. She wanted to find a religion that had a high value and moral code for her children to hang onto for a ever more turbulent world. She investigated many religions, some traditional and others not so main stream. Finally, a neighbor who was a Mormon invited us to his home to hear the presentations by the missionaries. We were intorduced to the Book of Mormon and my mother then tried to prove the Book of Mormon wrong using the Bible. Well, that did not work out so well. She gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon throught her efforts. My father was very interested in the churches attitude towards our Native Amerian brothers and sisters because of his family history of being descendeants of Native Americans. He always had questions about how these humble and meek people would be saved by the gospel and why they would not be taught the Gospel throught the ages by a loving Father in Heaven who taught the people in Isreal so long ago. The Book of Moron gave him answers that no other book could. Once we joined the church my relationship with everyone and life itself changed. I realized that there was an eternal purpose to life and for me personnaly. I dedicted myself at an early age to follow the commandments and to live a life that would make me a better father, husband and person. Later as I was preparing to go on my mission I realized I needed a personal testimony of the the Gospel, the Church and the Lord. Through much prayer and personal study about many religions, the tenants and authourity of the chruches I realized that the only true church on the earth today could be the LDS church. But that was still not enough. I did as the scriptures commanded and I prayed for a personal testimony. I got that answer and since then have been an active member of the LDS Church. That is why I am a Mormon.
How I live my faith
I have been an adult Scout volunteer for over ten years. I have been a Scoutmaster, Venture Crew Advisor, District Commissioner and currently I am a Venture Roundtable Commissioner. I am an Eagle Scout, District Award of Merit and Silver Beaver recipient. Helping young men find thier way through the difficult ages and stages of young manhood is very rewarding and exciting. In the Church I am currently on the administrative council of the church that serves 10 to 15 congregations with the specific assignment of working with young men leaders and scouting. I have served my entire adult life in one capacity or another in the church and in my communitee and find it a great blessing to serve others. I served a full time 2 year mission in Germany as a young man and learned alot about people, religion and my own testimony of Jesus Christ. I was on the appointed by my County Commissioner to serve on our county 25 year vision committee and look forward to serving on public commitees in the future.
