Hi I'm Becky
My husband and I are Disney fanatics! We love that fun and magical atmosphere. Every since my husband proposed to me in front of the castle, it has been our special place. I am a speech-language pathology and am currently working part-time at a private clinic. Although I love working with individuals to improve their communication/swallowing, my wonderful full-time job is that of a mother. I LOVE baking (especially sweets!) and have recently been learning how to decorate cakes; still have a LONG way to go.
Why I am a Mormon
Although I was born into the LDS church, there came a point in my life where I had to know for myself if what I had been taught was true. After studying the Book of Mormon, living it's teachings and asking God through prayer, I came to know for myself that what I had been taught was true! It brings me so much peace to know that I am a daughter of God, that I have a Savior, and that in a world filled with trials and hardships that God still sends his children guidance through a living prophet. I find peace, joy and strength as I live the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I went on a mission because I wanted to share the joy that I have received from living the gospel of Jesus Christ.
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
When reading the Book of Mormon, I get a better sense of my worth as a child of God; that he has a plan for me. I feel the love he has for all his children, and his desire to bless us. My favorite thing about the Book of Mormon is that it is a record of Gods dealings with His children on the American continent before, during and after the time of Christ. I don't always know what the outcome of my trials and hardships will be, but when I read the Book of Mormon I can see how consistent God was in helping and blessing those individuals in their trials. This gives me the hope that as I strive to keep the commandments during my life (especially during the hard times), I will receive divine assistance to overcome or endure whatever trials I will face.
How I live my faith
Once I began to see how the gospel blessed my life I had a desire to share it with others. In 2005, I was blessed to serve a mission for my church in Chile. My husband and I currently teach the 8 and 9-year-old children on Sunday about the prophets from the Bible, and how we can learn from their examples. The most important way I live my faith is by applying the teachings of Jesus. By loving and serving my God and my neighbors I have grown closer to my Savior.
