Stuart Edge: Mormon.

Hi I'm Stuart Edge

About Me

I am 24 years old, and I was born in UT. I am currently attending school in Utah where I hope to major in Business. When I am not studying or slaving over my math homework, I like to make YouTube videos, play guitar, dance, rock climb, eat food, hang out with friends and go on dates. When I was 14 my parents got divorced, and then a few weeks after that my mom, my two brothers and I packed up our things into a small mini-van and drove down to Mexico because my mom had been given the opportunity to teach school in a town called Colonia Juarez. That year helped me grow more than any other experience in my life. So now I am just trying to live the dream of graduating and becoming a successful person and have a family someday.

Why I am a Mormon

Why not? I love the church so much. I was born into the church, and I was 8 years old when I was baptized. I think that the most valuable lesson I have learned being a Mormon is that God has a plan for us. The other day I saw a play called "Antigone", in which a lot of the characters die by suicide. The king was so hurt and had no hope that he would ever see his family again. I paused for a moment and thought about how grateful I am to know that after this life, there is more. I will be able to be with those that I loved in this life, and we will continue to be a family forever. That knowledge is more valuable to me than anything else. That's why I love being a Mormon.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I served a mission for the church in Veracruz, Mexico. We serve missions so that we can help others receive the Gospel in their lives. Missionaries don't choose where they serve their missions. What they do is they send their information to the church, and then the prophet chooses where they will serve. Men need to be single, between the ages of 18-26, and server for a period of 2 years. Single women at the age of 19 and up serve for 18 months. Senior couples can also serve missions.

How I live my faith

There is a lot of media in the world, and a lot of it it good, but there is also media that brings you down. I try and live my faith, by producing media that is uplifting and inspiring. I also currently attend a Student Ward, so there are a lot of ways to get involved. One of the main things we do is visit one another and share a spiritual message with them. I really enjoy this because as a college student it is really easy to get lost in homework, and work, so it is nice to have a spiritual uplifting.
