Hi I'm Cory

About Me

I was born and raised in a small town in West Virginia, and lived their until the age of 19. I served a two year mission in Nevada for my church, attended college in Idaho, and I'm now working in Salt Lake City as a web developer. Creating something cool from nothing is what makes me tick. I enjoy web and graphics design, and love playing music. My favorite on the performance side is the drums, but I also enjoy the guitar and whatever else I can get my hands on.

Why I am a Mormon

I've discovered that learning of the Savior and trying to be like him brings me a peace that nothing else can. I'm happiest when I know I'm doing what He would have me do, and I can feel myself learning and progressing. I was born into an active Mormon family, but I stay because I personally have a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is indeed the Lord's church. I know that He stands at the head of it, directing us through modern-day prophets. I know that through heeding their counsel and aligning my life with gospel principles I can live happily and confidently.

Personal Stories

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

As we offer our talents, we can enable others do more than they could on their own, and help them in ways they cannot help themselves. The Lord gives each of us specific and unique talents, but he doesn't give one person all of them. We are meant to work together and share our gifts.

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is confidence that the promised blessings of the Gospel will be received. I have a hope that I will truly live happier in this life and in the next as I am faithful to the Savior.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

The Lord has commanded that we share the gospel: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations..." Matthew 28:19. That's one way that we do it.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is vital. For me it's a way to counsel with Heavenly Father every day. I tell him of my plans, my concerns, my desires, and I ask for his input and support. I think it shows the Lord that I truly want to do His will, and as a result I receive more inspiration and feel that I am directed.

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

Joseph Smith was an imperfect man, but I believe he was called of God to do a great work. Namely, to restore the same church that existed when Christ was on the earth. Because of what God led him to accomplish, we can enjoy the full blessings of the Gospel today.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is more than just going to church on Sunday. It's a daily battle and blessing to try to live the way that God would have me live. It means serving people around me. Sometimes it means sacrifice. Always it has meant living in a way that brings real peace, and purer joy.
