Robert Stephen: Mormon.

Hi I'm Robert Stephen

About Me

I am 55 years old and a mail carrier for the Post Office. I love to read, love animals, especially my two Labs. I was Baptized on April 3, 2009. Single, never married with no children, but have gained a whole family through the Church. Simply love being a member.

Why I am a Mormon

I new nothing about the Mormon faith other than the fact that they did not drink or smoke and they paid tithe. I had an urge to get on Mormon.org and order the Book of Mormon. Also visited with a couple of Missionaries on-line. I actually ran into a couple one day on my job and asked to visit with them. From that point it was pretty fast. I did just what they told me to do. Read, Pray if this is all true and go to church. I got my answer that it was true without a doubt and was Baptized 3 weeks later. Way Cool. I love the peace and the joy that it brings to me and the complete faith and knowledge that there is a God and also a Prophet on earth today.

Personal Stories

Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.

I am not sure I can explain my feelings, but I will try. I do know that he was our Prophet. I know without his vision the Restored Gospel would have come about at a later time, but that Joseph Smith was the one person that God picked to bring it forth. I am so happy that Joseph Smith read James 1:5 in the New Testament. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. This one simple verse led Joseph to ask of God with a sincere heart and faith. Through that simple act this amazing Church was born. He was the right person at the right time and was truly a Prophet.

How has attending Church services helped you?

I love going to Church each Sunday. I wish it was more often really. It gives me a chance to recharge each week. I get to partake of the Sacrament and ask for forgiveness of the wrongs I have committed each week. The Sacrament is a rite we perform each Sunday. We eat bread and drink water that has been blessed. It symbolizes the Blood and Flesh of Jesus Christ that he gave up for us on the Cross. It is like being re-baptized and washed anew. It also gives me a chance to renew my covenants with god. A chance to gain more knowledge through the talks and through the Sunday classes. Also a chance to visit with all of my friends and new Church family.

How I live my faith

I made a promise to myself that when I joined I would be as active as possible. I have 2 callings. I am on the Activities Committee and am a Ward Missionary. Also am a home teacher. I make it a point to go to Church each Sunday, to take part in all the events and just be active. Also make time to read in the Book of Mormon each day and to say my prayers.
