Chat With a Mormon Online
I was born in Redmond, WA in November 1983. I grew up in a small city called Mercer Island in Washington State. I love Washington! Even though it is really wet and rainy and gray here most the year, the gorgeous Seattle summer and fall make it worth it. I have one older sister who lives up the hill from me with her husband and two kids. My younger brother lives at home in Issaquah. When I was about 16 or 17 years old I started to realize what I wanted to do for my career. I wanted to be a healer, I wanted to help people. I went to massage school in Salt Lake City in 2003 after High School graduation and after that I came home started working here as a massage therapist. In 2004 I met the man of my dreams. Mr. Hancock. We were married in 2005 in the Seattle temple and have a son who is almost a year old and very active and mobile he keeps me on my toes. I am so thankful for all of my blessings and trials. Life is truly beautiful!
Although I was born a member of the church, I have questioned and studied and prayed numerous times to make sure this was the right place for me to be. I have listened to the prophets and my teachers counsel as it says in the scriptures to ask God if these things are not true. By the power of the Spirit (Holy Ghost) you may know the truth of all things. I did this I prayed and received a personal witness that this is the true church of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. They are one in purpose and although there are many wonderful people around the world worshiping in good places, this church is true because it has a fullness of the truth and saving ordinances. This is the only way to have eternal families and the only way to live with Heavenly Father again receiving all that he has. I am so thankful to be Mormon it brings so much joy and a great sense of purpose to my life. I can't imagine life without it, nor would I want to. I love my savior and his church. I cannot wait to share this with those around me and especially teach my children about it.
I am trying hard to make my home a sanctuary a place where the spirit can reside. I do this by keeping it clean and tidy, only listening to uplifting music, movies, books. Keeping contention and fighting out of my home and reading my scriptures and building our home on principles of faith and prayer. Usually I like to have pictures of Christ and prophets around my home so we will always remember him. I also read books and listen to tapes that are about strengthening your marriage and how to be a good parent.
I have seen what my life is like with out the gospel and what is can be like with the fulness of the gospel. I will always choose the gospel. It brings so much joy and happiness to my life and the lives of those around me. I know my Savior loves me so much and my Heavenly Father wants me to be happy as well as everyone in the world. He knows me by name as well as you and that is why Christ came to earth to make it possible for us to return to live with them, because they truly love us and oh how we need to love them!
I want my friends to know of the truthfulness of the gospel and the many promises and blessings it can bring both in this life and eternally.
I remember my two Grandmas were there they traveled from far away to come see my baptism so I knew it was something really special. My paternal grandma gave a lesson about birth and rebirth and I how got to be baptized and made clean again. My father baptized me and it was such a sweet experience. I remember feeling different after. Cleaner and purer I could feel my Saviors love more intensely. After my confirmation I felt I had more support and guidance with me like I had a light inside which shined really bright. This was because I had received the gift of the Holy Ghost, A constant companion and comforter to help me make right decisions and to return home to my Father in Heaven. I'm glad I was baptized it was a beautiful memory and I know it is necessary in order to walk back to the presence of the Father and his Son and have a fullness of joy.
I feel such a warm comforting feeling when I read and study the Book of Mormon I haven't figured out why this book is so much more spiritual than other sacred books I've read. I just feel the Holy Spirit so strongly when I read it. I know that there was a divine purpose in bringing this book about. The Lord wanted us to have this book he knew we needed it to progress and reach our full potential. I feel closer to my Heavenly Father and my Savior when I read this book and I hope that everyone in the world has an opportunity to read it. It will bring you closer to God and answer many questions you have about life.
Everyday I realize more and more about how important it is to constantly nourish my faith. Everyday, like a seedling or a tiny plant I need to take care of it to make sure it stays strong and grows. Thus helping me to learn, grow and progress. I find that the best way to do this is by studying the words of Christ and his prophets in the scriptures and other church materials. I also try to surround my self with uplifting people and good, clean types of media. This helps strengthen my faith in Christ because I am worthy and my mind is prepared to hear the whisperings of the spirit which guide me in my life decisions and help me to learn more about what Christ has in store for me. This continually strengthens my faith in Christ and my Heavenly Father.
