About Me

I'm a father of two beautiful children, I love watching sports, and I'm a political junkie. Originally from Northern California, I moved to Washington, D.C. 10 years ago to work on Capitol Hill. I've enjoyed an inside look into the U.S. political system and am proud to have played my part. I earned a Master's degree in Homeland Security while working full time and starting a family, it wasn't easy, but with the support of my wife and from Heavenly Father, I did it. Now I'm just doing my best to take care of my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 12. Though I was young, I approached God in prayer and asked him to tell me whether the principles and doctrines I was learning are true through the unmistakable witness of the Holy Spirit, he told me they are. Since that time, I have remained active in the Church. While life's happiness and challenges tend to ebb and flow, the joy I have experienced as I've kept the commandment and followed the Savior's teachings has consistently grown. Being a Mormon is about more than going to church meetings every week - I'm a Mormon because the gospel truly helps me understand who I am. I know why I'm here, where I came from, and where I'm headed. These truths empower me and my family to live happier, more full, lives. It's priceless.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer plays a major role in my life. My family and I pray together daily. Doing so provides us with a neat opportunity to come together before the Lord. As we address the thoughts and concerns of our hearts in prayer, we grow closer and renew our faith that despite our circumstances we each have the tremendous benefit of a father in heaven who loves and cares for us. Prayer helps remind me about what really matters in life and provides us with spiritual uplifting experiences. It also enables us to open the window of blessings from heaven on behalf of those we care about. Throughout the day, I try to keep a prayer in my heart. It helps me be a better person and puts me in a better position to receive blessings. It is comforting knowing that no matter where I am or what's happening around me, Heavenly Father is only a prayer away. Truly, I'm not alone.

How I live my faith

Part of living my faith means volunteering to serving in the Church - for example, I am a Sunday School teacher. This year we are studying the Old Testament. It's been great learning with our ward (congregation) family. I also get to visit a few individual families in their homes on a monthly basis. It enables us to grow closer and helps ensure they are supported in their endeavors. Together with my wife and children, I attend regular church services and strive to make Sunday a day of rest. More than anything, I live my faith by being honest in my dealings and trying to honor our savior Jesus Christ in my actions.
