Hi I'm Brittney
I am a mother of 5 kids and one dog. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We've definitely had our ups and downs, but through prayer and patience, we've been able to overcome obstacles in our marriage. I was born and raised in California and love it here! I enjoy kickin' it with my family and my friends, music, reading, going on road trips, camping, family history, Yankees Baseball, Soccer, and helping others.
Why I am a Mormon
I will be honest, I was born into a family that already believed and went to our church. Some say that I was just brain washed, but I can promise that I wasn't! When I was about 14, I was going to church but having problems with a lot of my friends at church. There was one day that I didn't want to go because I just didn't want to be around them. Then I asked myself why I even went to church? Did I go just to be social? Did I go because my parents wanted me too? Did I go because of the love for my Father in Heaven and Savior? So I decided to find out for myself whether or not I wanted to continue going. Even though I felt the church was true, because I didn't know any different. I started talking to other friends about their religion and I was reading the Bible and Book of Mormon. I decided to pray about these things. Whenever I talked to my wonderful friend's of other religions, I just didn't feel the same about what they believed in. They said a lot of wonderful true things, but it didn't seem whole. If that makes sense. So I continued reading the Bible and Book of Mormon and I was on my roof and I'll never forget having it all be so clear to me. I wasn't confused, I didn't doubt, I just felt at peace and I knew at that moment that I had received a witness of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and Bible and that they both went hand in hand to teach of the life of our Savior Jesus Christ. It was awesome and it's something that I hold dear to my heart.
How I live my faith
Everyday, I pray throughout the day and I read my scriptures with my family. Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Through the craziness of life, it helps me keep a great perspective and a positive attitude. In our church, I try to go to all of the activities our women's group offers. They offer activities from cooking to clothing drives to learning a new talent to just hanging out and playing games. I love being in the company of people that have the same ideals as I do. A person can have different jobs in our church. My current job is working with the kids 3-11, which we call Primary. I love teaching the children and feeling their special spirits and seeing their eyes light up when they feel the love of our Heavenly I also go and try to visit 4 seperate women every month and check in on them and just try to be there for them. I also try to leave an encouraging message with them. THis is what we call visiting teaching and I love doing it!
