God knows and loves each of us

Parents marvel at the beauty of their newborn baby, and rightfully so.

That baby is not just their child. That baby is a child of God, too. Every child—male or female—is created “in the image of God” (Genesis 1:27).

The Lord God knew us long before our parents did. For instance, He said of the prophet Jeremiah, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee” (Jeremiah 1:5). Our Father who gave us life has known and loved us always.

  • Each of us is a beloved son or daughter of our Heavenly Father.
  • All human beings—male and female—are created in the image of God.
  • Human life is a gift from God and is important in God’s eternal plan.
  • Each person has a divine nature and destiny.
